How call spoofing works

Scammers can make any number appear on your screen. Understanding how they do it is the first step to not falling for it.

Never trust caller ID alone
Caller ID can be faked by anyone. A call appearing to come from your bank is not proof it's your bank.
Hang up and call back
If a "bank" calls you, hang up and call the official number on the back of your card. Real institutions don't mind.
No legitimate authority asks for OTP
Bank Negara, PDRM, LHDN — none of them will ever ask for your OTP, TAC code, or password over the phone.
